currently I have PSU, CASE, Floppy Drive, HDD, RAM, and WindowXP home.
waiting for Mobo, CPU, and other parts.

my question are:

1. can I check whether the PSU works or not without mobo connection?
I like to make sure it's working and not a defect one.

2. can I use IDE power connector for S-ATA hard drive?
PSU didn't contain S-ATA power adaptor. I think it's supposed to.

3. which is power off button 0 or _ ?
I read mechBgon's guide and other's too. to ground the case, I need to connect the PSU to the wall and turn the PSU's switch to off. my old one doesn't have on/off buttons.

btw I really appreciate for mechBgon's instruction.

4. is there any site showing how to install AMD 64 2800 stock hsf?
I read some horror stories breaking CPU during the installation. little nervous here.

I will ask you more when I get all the parts and really start building.

thanks in advance.

You could hook the PSU up to another computer. If your HDD has a legacy connector, you can use the IDE.

1- You would need to buy a PSU tester The best way is to hook the PS to an old computer.

2- Are you sure your not talking about the data cable and not the power cable. The sata data cable is completely different from the ide cable
You need the sata data cable to use the drive.

3 - On is |, Off is O.

4- The AMD site shows how to install the HS. Link
