Good Day....

Does SATA have the same Master/Slave relationship that EIDE/ATA does? How many drives can you put on a SATA channel?

THanks

Most motherboards come with 2 SATA headers, so they can take 2 drives, it's one driver per connecter. Not totally sure about the other, but I think it's more like IDE1/IDE2 relationship, since there's only 1 driver per connecter, unlike the 2 per IDE connector.

No each device connected to a SATA controller is treated as a Master. You can put 1 drive on each channel and it's up to the card/chipset/motherboard manufacturer to decide which controller to use and how many channels to implement.

(In Generation 2 of SATA they're working on SATA Hub Technology to share a single channel between mutliple devices).
