Hello everbody!!! Im new to the forum and had a few questions and needed help getting started on a basic Overclock. I have a ASUS P5P800 SE motherboard, P4 630 Prescott 3.0 LGA775 CPU, Coolermaster Hyper 48 CPU Cooler, two 120mm case fans and two Kingston 1Gb KVR400X64C3A/1G sticks. My ASUS Probe reads (CPU) 36C/ 87F and (MB) 32C /89F just a tad higher when im running several programs. What all do I have to do to get started? and what do my setting have to be at? I dont want to get crazy and ruin my PC I just want to speed it up alittle faster!! Thanks!!

You'll need to go in to bios, and find the AI overclock settings. Change it to manual. Set the ram to 133mhz, and then start increasing the FSB to find your CPU's limit. The 6xx series prescott runs a little cooler, so you could possibly get as high as 4ghz on air, athough I'm not sure how good your cooler is. After that you can try setting the mem divider higher and see how your RAM does at overclocking. Make sure you run 2 instances of prime95 to test your OC for stability and run memtest+ to test for ram stability.

First off thanks for the reply!! second im a newbie at this so ill have a few questions. I understand setting the ram to 133mhz but then we get to the FSB increase? what exactly am i looking for and how do i know im at my limit? Next what is the Mem Divider and what does the setting look like for that as well? And last but not least is Prim95 and Memtest+ software I need to check stability for the adjustments I made. Thanks again!!!
