Newbie seek advise on Office Compter components

Hi

I need to build an Office computer. I am relatively new to this stuff, though I have built a couple of Intel based PCs before. All my Intel boxes (with stock HSF) turned out running at very high temperatures.

Anyway I primarly will be using this computer for typical office work and also will be doing a lot of content creation like Photoshop, Illustrator etc.

So my question is:

1. Is Athlons cooler?
2. Which is the best bang for Buck? AMD or Intel?
3. What components would you recommend?
4. What graphic card would be great for 2D work?
5. Do these system warrant thrid party HSF? Or will stock HSF will be ok?

I am looking for a system at about $750 minus operating system. I think I will go with a 19" CRT than an LCD.

Also advise what are the advantages of Venice or Hammer or whatever (I dont know about them) vis a vis each other.

Thank you evrybody in advance

1 - The Athlon is generally cooler at the moment.

2 - AMD is the best bang for your buck.

3 - AMD CPU with an Asus Mainboard for a solid and stable system. Good quality memory, Western Digital hard drives, Lite-On CD/DVD Drives.

4 - For 2D Graphics work I currently am using a Matrox Millenium P650. Arguably the best 2D quality you can get and will beat the gaming cards easily in 2D quality. However, it won't play any games but this is an office computer right?

5 - Stock HSF will be fine on everything unless you are overclocking or something.

OdiN...Thanks for the quick reply.

I was specifically looking for the CPU, MoBO, Graphic card recommendations. Can somebody recommend a suitable AMD rig?

RiceMarine..Thanks.

AnandTech CPU guide lists Opteron 144 Venice and Hammer. Which will be better?

Is there any Mobo suggestion from Asus or others as well?

I would appreciate if others have any feedback as well..
