How can I capture something from a VCR/TV/etc to my computer and possibly put it on a VCD?

Sweet thanks for the help, so thus I need a video card/TVcard with video in, Dazzle card or fireware/DV card in order to do this? I have a Svideo out my current card, are there any uses for this besides allowing me to work on my computer using a TV as a monitor. Can I play DVDs from my computer and displayed on a TV using this?

I am a total newb when it comes to this video stuff.

i think s-video is only for output. u need some sorta card with video input. that way u can have ur vcr output to your pc, and ur pc can record. well... at least that's how i did it. i'm not a pro... was just messing around with my radeon vivo back a few months ago :p

If you want to play DVD's on your computer, you will also need a DVD-ROM player.
