Sorry for the noob question. Which processor is quicker?

Core Duo T2400 @ 1.83ghz
or
Core2 T5600 @ 1.83ghz

They have basically the same specs, but the T2400 runs more power efficiently and at less volts. I would say the T5600 because of the Core 2 in the name, but not entirely sure.

the T5600 will be faster due to a superior architecture. It isn't always faster but usually is. (not as big a jump as it was from Pentium D to Core 2 Duo)

I thought that the original Core Duos had bad power consumption compared to AMD's offerings and the newer Core 2 Duos?

Another difference, Core 2 supports x86-64.
