Okay, I went here and followed all the instructions etc http://www.gygabite.com/smokeball/sigline.htm
Everything is working fine, I've got it running on 2 computers so far, but when my screen saver comes up it's just blank... I thought the seti program displayed a screen saver that showed all your stats and that stuff?

Edit: 1 of the icons in my task bar is blue, the one on my other computer is yellow.... Is there a problem with 1 of them or anything?
Edit2: Is there a linux version of this?

Hey Bolvangar!

If you followed that instruction, then ur using the command line client and the CLI doesn't have a screensaver, only the GUI has a screensaver. The reason for using the CLI is because is't a lot faster than the GUI (After switching from the GUI to the CLI, my time/wu time drop half!)

The blue icon is the one for the CLI and blue means it's crunching, yellow means it needs to download a wu (if set to auto download, it would do it automatically)

Yeah there is a linux version, I've never used it but I understand it's a bit slower than the win one. Not exactly shure where to download it from...but someone will know 😀

I got another dumb question 🙂

Is anyone out there using clustered (beowulfs) computers on this?
I've got about 5 celeron 500 machines sitting around, and I figure they wouldn't be the best thing for this, but together I think they would do nicely....

If anyone out there has done this before, if you could give me some info, on how hard this is to do, and what os's I can run, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

TeAm Anandtech has a Beowulf cluster. Read this thread - Text Enjoy!

I think it would be possible to use ClusterKnoppix to do this, you could just run 5 instances of S@H once you have the PC's booted and connected together 🙂
