A lot of us refer to the word BIOS everyday - yet some of us don't know what it stands for; like me. What does it stand for? I'm taking a wild guess here, but could it perchance be Basic Input Output System?

A lot of times also people refer to this as the CMOS. But in technical terms CMOS is the chip itself while BIOS is the program embedded into the CMOS.
