Newbie Q???. Do I have too many fans?

I have an Antec SX635. The case came with one 80mm Antec fan in the back. The case could hold two more 80mm in front but didn't come with any. I bought 3 enermax fans adjustable 1000 RPM ~ 3000 RPM (UC-8FAB). I put one in back replacing the antec fan blowing out. I put the other two enermax in front as intake. I have an evercool hard drive cooler (HDF-3 - 3 fans) cooling my harddrive in one of the 5 1/4 drive bays. The hard drive/fan is in the bottom of the three 5 1/4 drives. I have my Pioneer DVD in the top drive. I have my plextor CDRW in the middle drive bay. I have the heatsink/Fan that came with the processor. My VisionTek Xtasy 5864 has a fan on it. I don't overclock anything. Does this sound like it should be proper cooling for most situations? Is it too much? Any suggested changes. The hard drive fan has a filter. I was thinking about putting filters on the front two intake fans.

The HDD fan is unnecessary, everything else is fine.

If your case is not hovering eight inches off of your desk or so loud that blood comes out of your ears then you probably dont have too many fans....LOL I have found that HDD coolers/fans are not really worth it.

Muaha! No one can have too many fans! ^^. They won't hurt ya, unless you are going deaf. But if you go deaf, you can put as many fans in there as you want and cool your system like crazy and you won't ever be annoyed by it.

I've got the same case and ordered the same 3 fans as you(they should get here this week). I made a filter out of an air filter from home depot(74 cents). It looks like crap but you can't see it with the cover on so I'm happy with it🙂 I love my case😀

How about a dryer sheet for an air filter - also serves as an air freshener.

As for your original question, the general rule of thumb is as follows:

cfm into system=cfm out of system excluding psu. Otherwise you run into noise problems, ineffecient cooling, etc...

Fix, buy another fan like your other three and use 2 fans to pull air in and 2 fans to pump air out.

Yeah it's an air filter for air conditioning units I think. With the 635 case there isn't another 80mm hole in the back for another fan and I have no dremel so I think this is as good as it gets for me for awhile.

Thanks all. I was kinda wondering if I had too many intake fans since the case only has one fan for output beside the powersupply. It doesn't seem very loud to me but you can certainly feel the breeze when the side panel is off. As far as filters, I was thinking about the dryer sheets but I'll make the trip to Home Depot to check out the options. Thanks again.
