I have 2 PCs running XP. Both have a network card and are connected via CAT5e cable. I have run the ntworking wizard to no avail. Both computers say that the network cable is unplugged. I know one computer and the cable are fine because I just used them at a LAN party. What causes this problem and is there an easy fix?

Thanks in advance.

ahah wrong thread... but about ur problem.. I think you need a Crossover cable. If you are trying to go Peer to Peer. But if you have a hub it should work.

You wrote that you connected those computers with a CAT5e cable. Do you mean a regular one? And directly connecting both PC's? That's only possible with crossover cables!

If you want to connect with regular/straight UTP cable you'll need a hub or switch in between.

edit I'll need to type faster. :)

Do you want to have all your computers on teh internet? then you will need to get a Hub(Switch) if you just want to connect the 2 togeather then just get a crossover.
