Me and my friend are trying to both be networked together and both on the internet at the same time. Is it even possible?

If so, how would I go about doing this?

Right now, I have the modem plugged into the hub's first port, my computer into the second port, and my friend's computer plugged into the third port. I'm connected to the internet, but I'm not connected to my friend, and he's not connected to the internet.

get a router

you need a router

get rid of the hub

(you could use internet connection sharing, but a router is much "cleaner" and better)
