i have an xp 1700, i think i bought it when the 1900 were just comin out, and havent a clue on what kind of chip it is or the serial. Is there a program to run to find this out. Also i have 512 of pc 2100 but dont know what manufacturer. I am using a msi (6380) mother board and i want to oc this thing as much as possible. Can anyone give me some pointers on what to bump up in the bios. Any help would be appreciated....thanx much

go to "My Website" listed in my sig and check out my guide
it'll get you started

also, run wcpuid and tell us waht the family, model, and stepping id is (the top number, nt the bottom)

my guess is that its a palomino and the only way to oc is by raising the cpu freq in the bios
dunno much about the board...

if im right, only way is to unlock it and raise the mult
that pc2100 may be ok for ocing, but stick with it for now cuz i dunno how ur mobo will take higher fsb's
