I ordered all the parts for my new system (the first one I built myself) from Newegg about two weeks ago and just got everything together (see specs). The installation went very smoothly except for two problems.
First, Win2k sp2 did not like the v1.35 VIA 4 in 1 drivers at all! Any time I transferred large amounts of data among the IDE devices (two HDD, a DVD, and a CD-RW), the system would lock up. Without the 4 in 1's, the hard drives would not go into DMA mode. It turns out that updating my Epox 8kha+ to the latest BIOS fixed that problem.
Second, my LiteOn CD-RW would not burn anything readable. After a very easy RMA I just received a replacement from Newegg today and it works great! I copied a full CD in less than 4 min! Overall I am very impressed - all this for under $1000 (I transferred the monitor and speakers from my old system).
I would have to say that Newegg is the best place for components, and these forums are the best place for advice! I combed these forums for about a month before I purchased anything. Doing it yourself is so much better than having someone else do it for you!
