Well, I finally bought my video card. I purchased a Xtasy 9500 Pro 128 meg. Can anyone give me any suggestions on how to properly install the card? Are there any good sites out there that will walk me through the process? I understand that I have to uninstall my old Nvidia drivers and then I install my new card with drivers, but is it that simple? Does anyone have any suggestions? I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

Yeah its that simple use this cleaner to do your driver removal. Driver Cleaner

The newer Nvidia drivers will auto remove the old ones so no need for driver cleaner but you can use it if you like. ( This is after you update to the latest drivers)

I am not sure if the newer drivers remove older drivers thats why I gave you the cleaner to be safe.

Easiest way to do this is remove the drivers then run the cleaner then shutdown.

Remove then install the new card and reboot.

When you see the hardware wizard hit cancel as many times as you have to till you boot to your desktop.

Then install the drivers from the CD and any tools you want provided with your card. Or you can install drivers from a download location if you want to DL them and go that route.

Thank you. I have it installed. I ran a score of only 6450 on 3DMARK 2001SE @ 1024 x768 6X AA. Do you think I should download the lastest drivers? Are the lastest CAT. drivers stable?

Thanks!

OMG why did I think you got an Nvidia card lol sorry.

Yes use the 3.6 drivers or the 3.7 havent tried the 3.7 tho. Use the same method run the driver cleaner then install the drivers.

Just so you know when I went from Nvidia to ATI I did a full reinstall of my OS that was the only way mine worked right, but that doesnt mean you will have to.

Just make sure you run driver cleaner then install the new Cats. The program even removes the old folders so you dont have to go through and do that. Cat drivers can be a little picky about installs so just be ready to possibly do some tweaking.

Thanks WaTaGuMp, I just install the CAT 3.7 drivers and they work fine. I scored a 10027 on 3DMARK2001SE @ 1024 x 768 w/ NoAA.
