hey guys sorry for all these stupid questions i just dont no very much about overclocking and i just wanna make sure i dont fry anything.

OK i ran the prime 35 software on my q6600 and my stock cooling. I ran into temps of around 70c on one proccessor and about 60 -65 c on the other 3. According to the overclocking guide you shouldnt get over 50c when running prime 35. This is with no overclocking also. The question that i have is should it be running that hot or is that normal. I just built the machine and i havent had any problems yet. Its been running for about 2 weeks now.

the room tempature was about 70 degrees also if that helps any. The tower has one fan for intake.

Im goin to be purchasing a watercooling unit.

probably http://www.petrastechshop.com/pecoel.html this one. aigomorla recommended it from this sight.

oh noes!!!1!

If room temp = 70 then it is normal for processor to be hotter.

It is NOT normal to run your PC in sauna conditions tho.

What program were you using to measure your temps? 70c core temp is around 55c Tcase temp. But 70c Tcase is 85c core temp..which is pretty hot. It's not that suprising to run at those temps on the stock heatsink. With my scythe ninja, at 3ghz, my Q6600 was hitting 85c core temp, but runs at about 65c core temp at 3.1ghz with water.

did you run 4 instances of prime 95, and set affinity so that each core was fully loaded?
