not really sure how to overclock, i could use some guidance
i got a p4 2.6c with a coolermaster aero4 w/artic silver running at around 40deg F
i got a abit IS-7 mobo
got a northbridge cooler that looks like an aero4, cept smaller and some adhesive heatsinks on the south bridge
i got 1 gig of pc3200 crucial ram
i got a geforcefx 5600 256mb
120gb 7200rpm maxtor and 60gb 5400rpm samsung hdd
got two antec fans, and three stock fans

i dunno if that helped at all, but if any of you can give me some tips, thatd be awesome
im trying to get the most outta this system, while trying to keep the noise down too, so reccomend new fans if you want too

Well, it looks like you have a very good system for overclocking, as long as you have a powerful enough power supply. You should definitely be able to get up to ~250mhz fsb, which would give you a P4C running at 3250mhz, or 3.25ghz. Just start raising your fsb, in the bios (I would start out at raising it to 225-230mhz fsb), and change your ram ratio to 4:5. If it isn't stable at any speed, just raise your cpu's voltage (called vcore in the bios) to around 1.65v, and try it again at the same speed.

whats the max temp that my cpu should be running at, i realize that i just put the artic silver on and it will propbably take a little while to really start to work, but after a day, and i oced it tyo 225mhz and got it to a clock of 2.93ghz my temp is at about 40deg F idle but with for instance winamp running a visualization, it goes to like 47-48... what do you think, what should be the max temp?
