It's quiet in a word. I put a rheabus in at the same time and the system is very, very quiet. At the lowest fan settings, the only sound is the drives.
Congrats on your purchase. I use a Seasonic PSU that's also completely silent. I plan to get a Sunbeam fan controller some day soon, probably whenever I upgrade my case. Then I can have an almost entirely silent PC (eliminating even the gentle "whoosh" of my Panaflo 80mm L1As).
I have noticed the heat. I have a HD cooler with 2 small fans on one of my drives, 1 TT 80mm case fan for intake, 1 generic 80mm and 1 TT on exhaust near the psu.
I also have the TT volcano 9 on my chip keeping it a nice, warm, 53 c.
I have pretty good airflow but now I have quiet airflow.
I'm not sure how much this psu can stand but i"m running 7 drives on an MSI board with 512 mem and an amd 1700.
There are two different 400W models. The original ZM400A-APF and the new ZM400B-APS. You can read about the differences in this REVIEW, but the main differences are more SATA connectors and a higher rated 12V rail.
The new model is still hard to find, but the old one is widely available:
I must go back and read the reviews on the new model again but just from reading the conclusions, the new model seems to be having poorer reviews than the non sata A unit.
