In one week the first 100 days are over. I figure a good 20,000,000 would now say if they had known what the first 93 days would be like they wouldn't have voted for him.
This provides me with an entree for something I've been thinking for a while.

The GOP core published "Project 2025". Perhaps they counted on the fact that many of their base don't read or read very much. I saw firsthand how some of those folks were actually arguing that "Trump disavowed" following that playbook, but then -- he did.

None of those proposals was ever discussed in public debate, so the proposals were never aired through other media for the less literate electorate. You could say that Democrats and media commentators sounded the alarm, pointing at the Project 2025 publication, but their concerns really weren't waking people up to it.

The lazier Trump voter, having defended his lies saying "He just says that -- it doesn't mean anything . . . " weren't tuned in to the plan and didn't take the published plan seriously.

As David Brooks says himself, none of this stuff is normal. But if you expect America to become "Great Again" under the auspices of the "National Spirit" and character of the MAGA, it ain't gonna happen. They're the lowest common denominator, and these aren't the same "Americans" that sacrificed through World War II. Like their President, they're lower than a crocodile puddle. My parents' generation was so great, these folks would need a step-ladder just to polish their shoes.

And only about 10 of them would be white, male, and fundy Christians.

It's also a bit early for that many to figure out they fucked up, as the layoffs, cost of groceries, $20,000 price increase on F150's hasn't really kicked in yet.

Robert Reich addresses David Brooks' essay linked in the OP:

Friends,
Last week, I mentioned conservative columnist David Brooks’ call for a “comprehensive national civic uprising” against Trump, which Brooks described as “one coordinated mass movement.

I wondered what shape that could take and asked whether, for example, it might be a general strike.

One person who got back to me was my old friend Sam Brown...

One thing they discuss is what to call this. In my view what's going on is nothing less than a national nightmare. I propose calling the uprising "End the Nightmare!"

This is where it would help to have an opposition party with even semi-competent leadership. To lead the opposition. Unfortunately we have a bunch of fucking dipshits running the Democratic party.

One of my protest signs says "We the People", I think that's a more unifying message.

It's way past time to protest in front of the SSA building where the DOUCHE boys are hacking our SS systems. Be sure to bring Granny in her wheelchair and give her a bullhorn. I want to see when they try to arrest her. MAGAs still don't have a clue what's really going on.

Irony:
"We fight like hell. And if you don't fight like hell, you're not going to have a country anymore,"
