Islanders and Rangers.

Giants and Jets.

How do you pick one team over the other?

Is it geographic? Economic? Class?

I'm a Mets fan cause i live in Flushing and i can't stand the yankees.
I've always been a Jets fan but the Giants are good in my books too
Never was a hockey fan so I like the Islanders, Rangers and the Devils

I was raised a Met and Jets fan :p

Was never a hockey fan, neither were my parents.

I was a Yankee fan as a fetus. My dad is a Yankee fan and I practically grew up in Yankee stadium. I remember fistfights with the Met fans at school. :)

I don't root for hockey, and I'm just starting to come back to the NBA after not rooting for any team for a long time.

I became a Giants fan pretty much for the same reasons I became a Yankee fan. It was never a decision, it just happened back when I was a little kid.

I grew up in Manhattan and went to HS in the Bronx so its always been the Yanks. I was more of a Giant fan as they were good when I was growing up and the Jets really sucked.

Real NYers do not root for the Islanders. Islanders fans are almost always from LI or eastern Queens.

It runs through my veins. Pretty much any team my father grew up rooting for I grew up rooting for, and since he grew up in Queens i'm a die hard Mets fan.

whatever you like. i don't watch that much baseball but i generally take the underdog's side so the mets.

i don't even watch football, but i like the jets. you forgot BUFFALO BILLS as well

how about texas? for nba they have spurs, mavs, rockets. as for cali there are lakers, clippers, and warriors.

In my experience, unless you were raised a Yankees fan from the very beginning, you will come to dislike or even hate the Yankees.

Buffalo Bills? You must not be from NY.
Buffalo is so far removed, no one from NYC even thinks considers the Bills (except the bandwagoners when they were doing well in the 90s).

Choosing a team happens when you're young. Whoever you grew up watching (for whatever reason, i.e. dad, friends), you become a life-long die hard.

For me it's the Mets, Rangers, Giants.

My father has been a Mets fan since the very beginning (early 60's) and I of course grew up as a Mets fan in the Bronx. Some folks ask me if I ever got into any fights or whatever being a Mets fan in the Bronx..nope.. not even one. Crazy no?? You figure Yankees fans who are typically neanderthals would start something but they knew better.. ;)
