New York Groom Commits Suicide Hours After Wedding

Dang.

A New York City groom killed himself by jumping into the Harlem River over the weekend, just hours after exchanging marriage vows with his longtime love. Fernando Brazier, 28, took the fatal leap after leaving a suicide note for his bride, Trudian Hay, at the front desk of the Radisson Hotel in New Rochelle, where the couple celebrated their wedding.
“He said [in the note] he couldn’t take it anymore and to take care of the kids,” according to Brazier’s sister, Shawna Weeks. “He left his ring in the envelope.”
Police sources said Brazier’s note told Hay that he could be found at the bottom of the river, not far from a Pathmark supermarket and Dyckman Street on the Manhattan side.
Witnesses said the just-married groom walked out of the Radisson and into a cab sometime before 9 a.m. local time Sunday.
He made his way to 55 Richman Plaza about 15 minutes away in The Bronx, where he jumped either from a building or the promenade behind it, police sources said.
A fire department marine unit found Brazier’s body in the waters near Roberto Clemente State Park, slightly upstream from where he was believed to have jumped, around 3 p.m. local time, the sources added.

Was the bride that ugly?

One hour after they were married, he asked her for a blow job.

When he heard her response - "ya, umm, this ring means I don't have to do that anymore" - he offed himself.

For the benefits or life insurance I would guess but she probably won't get paid.

Not with a suicide note.

Life insurance will actually pay in the event of a suicide. The only caveat is that it will not pay if the person killed themselves less than 2 years after purchasing the policy. This is to prevent someone that is going to kill themselves anyway from going out grabbing a policy right before they do it.

True. Plus, there might be other financial benefits for the kids; perhaps he had been intending to do it for a long time, but realized that after marriage, there might be legal consequences that would entitle the daughters to certain benefits.

Huh, I had no idea.

I can 100% confirm this is true.

Until this year, I also thought suicide made a person ineligible to receive life insurance benefits. So ladies and gents, if you plan to off yourself, please plan 2 years in advance and buy lots of life insurance for your loved ones.

Makes one wonder how many insurance companies when out of business after The Happening. I think covering that aspect of The Happening would have made the movie 100,000x more interesting.
