Yeah, awesome. I don't understand how this shit gets by the courts. This and their stop and frisk bullshit are pretty clear violations of the 4th Amendment. I really can't wrap my mind around how that city gets away with this kind of shit.

Because it's the liberal fucking mecca of the world?

The only place stupid enough to ban a beverage up to 16oz?

that'w why you better bet your ass that if it happens in NYC, its going to happen in other cities (with less uproar). NYC tests the waters, to see how far they can go with the sheep.

So is it x-ray? (doubt it) It looks to be infrared and can detect heat differences. Subjecting an unknowing person to a radiation dose sounds like a recipe for a huge lawsuit.

terahertz = 10^12 = infrared

The title of the thread is incorrect. Terahertz is a small segment of the spectrum between microwaves and infrared (0.3 to 3Thz) and shares properties of each but it's not x-rays. Its directional and line of sight but can penetrate certain types of objects to varying degrees. While it cannot image as deep as X-rays it does so with far less radiation. What radiation produced is non-ionized which means it will not break up chemical bonds (The big downside to traditional imaging systems). It is also blocked by water or metal which has lead to big pushes in security (The TSA is interested in these to replace its current scanners as there is significantly less health concerns while retaining the same imaging capabilities) and medical imaging

There is a big push to develop it for non-destructive imaging as well. For example - I believe a THz scanner device was used to check the ablation shielding on space shuttles after the Challenger explosion. Edit- Link:

Yeah, it's ok to violate the Constitution as long as the people being violated are the undesirables.

lol quoting you just in case. If you don't care about your civil liberties, turn go ahead and let NYC strip them from you in the name of "security". The rest of us will be more than happy to keep ours.

So the 4th Amendment is bullshit.

...

...

The 4th Amendment, this thing, is bullshit.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Wow, you're a fucking lunatic.

Good point. We'll send a few soldiers over to your house in the morning. It's much cheaper to have you pay for the room and board than to spend all that money on military bases. Hope you've got plenty of food and couple of extra beds.

It saddening to see Americans calling the constitution bullshit. Definitely look into what world people lived in 300+ years ago, and see what rights they had.

I don't define anyone who calls the Constitution bullshit as an American.

George Bush jr. is on P&N?:awe:

They first came for the second amendment, but I didn't own a gun so I didn't care,

They came for the fourth amendment, but since I had nothing to hide I didn't care,

They then took away the fifth amendment, but I always tell the truth under oath so I didn't care,

Then one day when I saw a corrupt official involved in an injustice and I tried to speak out, but police told me I couldn't because they just took away the first amendment.

Won't happen in a democracy. We always have a voice!

We the people can trample on what we want, and in this case we the people are trampling on the constitution, because it's bullshit and doesn't serve modern society.

This is a democracy, we get what we want.

I can't believe people don't understand the constitution, why it is there, what it does, etc.

Especially in the context of human nature and history. Taking away peoples rights for perceived safety isn't "modern" it is how backward 3rd world countries operate or how the USSR operated.

The "for while children" argument was used alot in the USSR, and I see it alot here in America. Oh how people forget so quickly what the hell they are doing.

The time is different. People are not much different at all. Some of history's worst genocides happened within the last several decades. The constitution is less about its temporal placement and more about the nature of man. Surely you were taught this at some point?

Just because when it was written people didn't have ipads and internet doesn't invalidate it.

The Constitution doesn't grant us our rights, it protects those rights from government.

By the way, I'm agreeing with you.

And that concept, which is the true essence of American exceptionalism, is no longer widely taught and is what the anti-Federalists feared would be a consequence of adding the Bill of Rights to the Constitution. The Constitution does not grant any rights, it acknowledges rights that every person has by virtue of their existence. It sets out a framework for a government that has checks and balances to attempt to protect the people from the inevitable creep of government towards despotism and infringement of those fundamental rights.

I can't believe people don't understand the constitution...

Well so many have twisted, contorted its original meanings,, and it is after all subject to various interpretations by law makers. So that makes it easier to misinform the uneducated on the basic principals of the constitution.

I do believe though that as the centuries fly by that things change and some of the old constitutional laws start to become irrelevant, hence amendments are brought about to reflect the changing times and people.
