New York a good place to visit in February?

Hey Guys, my girlfriend and I are looking for somewhere to go during our spring break away from University. We'd like to go to New York for a week or so, not sure exactly where. We're looking to spend about 500$ each. Any suggestions on where to stay / go / is this a good idea?

From what I've heard, it's never a bad time of year to visit New York City. (Unless you're from LA, in which case that might be considered a plus. 😀 )

Hah we quickly found that one out.

After some revising we figured 4 nights 5 days, $1000 total on living arrangements.

Do try to stay near a subway station though, otherwise cabs will kill the budget quickly.
