New year resolution?

I've had 3x24" 1200p for years now. For some reason I find it so hard to upgrade. I'm not sure I could go down to less than three monitors meaning I'd have to buy 3 new ones and I don't think I have the desk space for 3 bigger monitors. Maybe I'll wait a few years and do a new build from scratch and do it at that time.

Yeah that's what I wonder too if I will still feel constrained with 1 even if it's equivalent to 4. One reason I want to do it though is I hate how OSes handle multi monitor, dialogs etc open wherever the hell they want and it just gets so frustrating. What I'd probably do is use the other monitors separately using RPIs to display things that I don't have to interact with a lot, and then just VNC into them whenever I need to access it. I sorta do that now with Synergy but Synergy crashes like every 5 minutes. It's SUPPOSE to provide a seamless experience between multiple PC/monitors but not with it's constant crashing.

On a more serious note one resolution I really want to do this year is one I did in 2017, which I originally started in 2016, and came up with in 2015, because in 2014 I decided that I should perform 2013's goals, which were set in 2012 based on the goals of 2011 and 2010.

Seriously though my main resolution this year is to just be more productive, whether it's pursuing hobbies, or learning more things, or pretty much anything other than sitting on my butt all day browsing forums, Reddit, Youtube etc. that includes the cliche ones like working out more and eating healthier. I need to cook more, as much as I hate to do it, I just have to force myself to. The time it takes to do it, I will just be neffing anyway... In the past few years I've been terrible for that. I work shifts which means I have more time than most people, yet I don't really make good use of it. I have a forum project I wanted to do like 3-4 years ago, and it was to combine 4 forums into 1, because 2 of them were so insecure I shut them down, and the other 2 are kind of redundant. So I started on that but just been procrastinating finishing it. I kinda feel bad for the old timers... I doubt they'll come back at this point but I at least want to get it back up anyway.

My other resolution is I seriously need to start thinking of a secondary income, as I can't rely on my job forever. Companies are always looking at places to cut and lay off including mine. I don't think my job will be around forever, so I need a contingency plan. I have a few ideas, and they sort of revolve around some hobbies I've been wanting to take up, so everything will kind of tie together. Just need to stop being lazy and actually pursue this stuff.

I normally don't make resolutions but this year I'm going to. I wanna gain some weight (I think I found the answer for us ectomorphs, Conner Grooms's book Eating for Mass). I've gotten to the point where I basically despise how I look and though I know it's gonna be harder than quitting smoking, and maybe drinking, I really want to gain some fucking weight. I still need to figure out precisely what I'm gonna eat and get the supplies, and the exercises I'll do. It'll be the hardest thing I've done, I think, but man would I be stoked if I can gain 20 lbs.

^^^^^ hahahahahaha omg wow

Stop spending 15 to 20 k a year on cocaine, and see if I can't find a female that isn't a total user ass piece of sh*t hoe 😎

Do we have a new year resolution thread?
Mine is 3840 × 2160. Hopefully soon.

Just met that resolution. 😀 Got a $350 40" Samsung TV from Best Buy last week. I got tired of waiting for more of the 144Hz, 4K HDR monitors to arrive on the market (AUO delay, IIRC).

Now my setup is the 40" 4K and two older 16:10 Dell Ultrasharp monitors in potrait orientation. Really great for reading docs while watching videos and monitoring news/markets.

60Hz kinda sucks for gaming... I know when I switch to higher I'll be spoiled by it.

I’m upgrading my last year’s resolution from losing 5lbs to losing 10lbs this year (since I gained 5lbs this year). Maybe I’ll try this new workout definition. Apparently going to work and then go out isn’t it.

Hey brianmanahan! How'd the date go ?!?

oh lol, i gave up on that resolution by valentine's day

i'm so awkward that i think the only way i'd get a date is if some woman asks me out

though i was just talking to a lady on the elevator and it was going pretty well, best 15 seconds of the day by far

Read more. Shouldn't be a dead-end resolution that I can scratch off as a failure by the end of January. Not like "exercise every day" or "learn to play the oboe". I've gotten away from it and read just a handful of books a year now.

I spend/waste far too much time on the computer. I think there's a little bug in my head that tells me that being at the computer is somehow productive, when it's anything but. One of the major pitfalls of working at the computer from home.
