Haven't seen too many Yamaha burner deals around lately so I thought I stick this up in case anybody's lookin' for one. Site gets an 8.47 RR rating, FedEx ground is $5.38 to my place which isn't too bad.

EDIT: They also have 18 of the Adaptec 2940 PCI SCSI Adapter for $15. These are 50-pin only pulls, pre-ultra cards so you'll get a max of 10mb/sec. transfer rate. They're good for CDR's and older 50-pin drives. They still show on Pricewatch as being $25 at this same site.

Yamaha is total crap. ThatCDRW drive dies ALL the time. I had to change mine twice in a year.

I've had this drive for almost a year. Best drive I've ever owned. Better than my 8X Plextor I gave to my sister. Burns everything I throw at it. Performs DAE at 30 X+. Got it at Dell when they were selling for 133.00. I picked it up for 77 with some coupons and discounts and overnight shipping for free. Thought I had the deal of the year. If this is a new and not refurb, at 39.95 it is a pretty good price for this drive. Agreed it's only 16X, but I would be a little worried that it's only a 90 warranty, unless it's an OEM and that's the warranty. Having Nero thrown in is a plus. Good find.

This looks like the same specs on the CRW2100EZ that I picked up at Staples last summer for $25 after $50 mir and clearance price. It is not too bad of a burner but can't really compete with the plexies and lite-on's as it does not have burn proof or any real buffer under run protection other than the 4mb buffer and I have made a "few" coasters with it. It does a good job in my back up pc burning at a little slower speeds(12x etc.). I think that I would really go for one the sweet lite-on deals that are floating around if it was my money. But as the great Dennis Miller always says..... " Thats just my opinion, I could be wrong".

I noticed in the specs listed for the SCSI card that it can address up to 8 GB. Does this mean these cards will not support disk partitions larger than 8GB?

I've got nothing but praise for this drive. I've probably burned about 150 - 200 cd's without making a single coaster. Great buy, IMHO.
