I just bought a AMD Athlon XP2000+ and a MSI KT266Pro2-RU RAID motherboard and 512MB of 333mhz ram. When I boot it up, it doesn't get recongnized with the 266mhz bus speed so it boots at 1250Mhz. I downloaded the latest bios version from there website (3.5) and when ever I try to bump it up to 133mhz FSB it crashes durning bootup. I have the ram set to SPD and I can't understand why it won't post at the speed it is supposed to.

When you set the FSB to 133 does it post the proper CPU speed before it crashes?

I have tried clearing the CMOS everytime, I have to inorder to be able to boot into it again after I try changing the FSB to 133.

I also switched from an Antec 300watt PS to a 400watt and it didn't help it is still not making it past the post at 1666.

Hmmm try increasing the voltage on both the ram and CPU slightly.

I tried upping the volts and it didn't help. I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this one out.

Try dropping the voltage to 1.65v. I've seen this work with an 1800+ on a KK266 MB.

If that doesn't work, you board is probably having a problem with the 12.5X multiplier. I would suggest "unlocking" your chip and then booting into the BIOS and setting your multiplier manually. Try setting it at 12 and upping the fsb and see if that works.

It could be heat related. Is the HSF working fine and attached properly?

I have re attached the HS like 3 times hoping it was something like that. I have on of those FOP38s or something, I can't remember bought it a long time ago. The only problem is it runs perfectly fine at 1250 infact at 40C. I would think if there is something wrong with the HSF that it wouldn't run at 1250 either.

<< 512MB of 333mhz ram >>

I`m thinking your board might have a problem with the ram you are using,it might be working fine only set as 100mhz (PC1600) rather then set as PC2100(133mhz) since PC2700 ram(166mhz) is not official for that board, the ram is supposed to be backwards compatible with lower speeds but some boards can go funny and have problems with some out of spec ram,do you`ve any other normal PC2100 ram to try it with?

I had thought it could be that too but I tested it at 266 while the FSB of the CPU was 200.
