i was just wondering, do i have to let it allow to verify my copy of windows? or do i just have to install it and leave it disabled or something? I don't like windows screwing with my comp. it seems i need this update to continue to get other updates from windows update...

You won't be able to use Windows Update without installing the Validation utility.

And anyone who has an invalid CD key will not be able to proceed furtherin Windows update.

Go ahead and install Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool, THEN disable it and you won't have any issues.

You know how to disable it?
I don't think microsoft had an easy disable in mind for that feature, took them 4 years to come up with it.

In IE select tools>Manage Add-ons... Then Select Show "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer"

Disable "Windows Genuine Advantage"
