New XP processor driver

I am sorry if this is a repost, but i did a few searchers and came up with nothing.

Windows Update has a new processor driver "Microsoft Processor Driver Version 5.1.2600.28" for winXp. When I tried to install it it said it failed. I am wondering what this new driver is for. LockerGnome seems to think it has to do with Athlon Xp systems. This whould make sense since I am running an 1600+, but I have also seen other speculations stating that it is add-in support for PII's and PIII's. I am just wondering if anyone has in ideas or facts to what this driver does.

I also tried to install it and the damn thing failed..

oh well... I was wondering why it said processor... just watch and see, you update that and windows will probably want to reactivate

The update in question is so that MS XP Home and Pro will utilize AMD's PowerNow which is found in the Mobile chips (Lappy's) not home systems so that's why it wouldn't take.

hmm...went to windows update and the other new driver there is for a samsung mouse. maybe i already installed it.
