New XP install only showing 3gig

Before you say it I know XP 32 bit can't recognize the full 4gig. However, I have two brand new systems one shows 3.25gig and the other only 3 gig.

CPUZ is showing all 4 gigs in the computer. Bios shows 4gigs on startup.

I should be showing 3.25 for a XP 32bit OS. Any suggestions.

Sounds like you have different video cards. You max out at 3.5GB, subtract the RAM on the VGA from that. For instance, I have 3.5-256=3.25GB.

wow, you are right. I didn't know that the memory is subtracted out.

One system has a 8800gts 640 and the other is a 260 896MB.

I was going nutz. I thought I had a bad ram stick or my xp got messed up. Ireinstalled XP to find out it was still 3gig. Well, it's a nice clean copy now 🙂
