Please note that I've tried using Driver Cleaner and then doing fresh installs. I've also installed new onboard sound (Soundmax) drivers to no avail. I have no idea what to do.

Basically, in CS:S, the only game I've tried, the sound is behind the video. By like 1-2 seconds. This happened after I installed this X800XL over my old 9600XT. As noted, I've tried doing a fresh reinstall of Cat 5.8 but it didn't do a thing. Can anyone help me please?

x800xl is not responsible for sound, so I dont think its the cards problem. Might want to try re-installing Source.

Valve forums have many threads about sound lag etc. Funny thing is with my 9700pro, lagging sound with uneven frame rates were an issue at certain settings - seemed to change with each update. Just put in an x800xt pe and absolutly no issues. Something in the source sound engine is very picky.

Two threads.... Try disabling EAX for the sound card, if it's even an option (I don't remember), and estting sound quality to low.

Screw around with VSync or triple buffering? Also try every combo of sound settings.
