Im building a workstation computer for my rendering and video editing needs.
I have came up with this list of hardware to build this machine...my budget is around 2,000

Two of These for RAID config: Seagate Barracuda ES.2 ST3500320NS 500GB 7200 RPM 32MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - Internal Hard Drives

CORSAIR CMPSU-750TX 750W ATX12V / EPS12V Power Supply 100 - 240 V UL, CE, CB, TUV, FCC, CCC - Power Supplies

OCZ Platinum Edition 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1000 (PC2 8000) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory - Desktop Memory

ASUS P5Q WS LGA 775 Intel P45 ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 Yorkfield 2.83GHz 12MB L2 Cache LGA 775 95W Quad-Core Processor - Processors - Desktops

PNY VCQFX1700-PCIE-PB Quadro FX1700 512MB 128-bit GDDR2 PCI Express x16 Workstation Video Card - Workstation Graphics / Video Cards

I would greatly appreciate any suggestions to hardware change (if any) to make the build better then it already is but also stayin in my budget area...Monitors are also part of my budget but i am not worried about that at this point. I am more focused on getting the main hardware for my workstation build and work off that. Please review the build and any additional comments will be greatly appreciated!

You don't need a 750W power supply for that setup. A Corsair 450VX or similar should be fine, and a 550VX is definitely plenty.

Are you overclocking? If not there's no reason for DDR2-1000. If you are, you want to be very careful with overclocking on a professional machine.

What type of RAID are you considering?

No i will not be overclocking, im going to stick with the base performance. Knowing that, whats another good choice of ram?
I was told to mess around with RAID1 with dual 500GB HD's...

For maximum compatibility/stability I would get DDR2-800 rated for 1.8V.

The Mushkin kit I usually recommend is out of stock right now on Newegg, but there are plenty of other good choices. Look on Newegg using 2x2gb, DDR2-800 and 1.8V as filters.

Whats your thoughts about a 2.0 or 2.1V DDR2-1066??? It's a small difference but it's always good to have a small bump in performance IMO

Unless you have your CPU's FSB running at >400, the difference is probably not detectable.

The thing is that there isn't any real performance increase on a Core2 system, and certainly not one commensurate with the increase in cost.
