New Water Cooling Setup: Done Cheap ($79!!), but Performance you ask?

Alright, here are the specs for my next watercooling setup, on the cheap!

Via Aqua 1300- $12 (used)
Heatercore w/ shroud-$12 (used)
DTek Whitewater-$30 (new)
Tubing etc.- $15
GPU Block (maybe)- $45 (or ~$30 used)
DTek HDP Bay Reservoir- $10
Distilled Water/Anti-Freez- ~$5 (some lying around I think)
Total w/o GPU: $79
Total w/ GPU: $109-$124

Whadda you think? Pretty good from what I've read, the only two concerns are the following:
1) Is the pump a good starter, will it provide enough flow until I get the $$ to get a D5?
2) Is the single Heatercore w/ shroud and a 120mm fan enough to cool an Opty 165 and a 7600GT?
This will all be put in a Sonata II, so a Black Ice III is out of the question 😉.

Thanks for the input!

My buddy is using a single BIX rad and medium output 120mm fan with a 4200+ and an X1800XL. Temps are better than air but not great. You should be just fine with your 165 and 7600GT.

link to the actual CPU block? no matter how much you spend on the rest of the system, a good block will hold back even the biggest loops.

If I remember though, the block is extremely restrictive...and your block doesn't have much in the way of head.. though I might be thinking of the storm 😛 Let me look around.

Edit:

Also, unless SILENCE is your only goal; you reallly should go with a 2x120mm.

And you're forgetting fan cost.

This isn't entirely true. This block performs will, and without the restriction present in an impingement block. The point is that if you aren't a temp fanatic there are many options available that WILL get the job done. Your basic premise is suspect as well, if I get your meaning. The Storm is by most accounts one of the best blocks around (and restrictive for it too), and it in no way holds back the rest of my 3-block loop.

OP: Except for the pump, your proposed loop looks great for the price.

I've decided to get a used D4 pump for ~$30, and get a dual 120mm heatercore as well. I left out the fan cost because I already have some left over from the case I'm currently using. My goal is to have the dual radiator with no fan (or a silent one, maybe a Thermaltake SilentWheel) and have a decent Panaflo on the single. I may switch it up if the temps aren't what I'm looking for, but it's a good start. I have the option of getting a Swiftech 6002, and all I have to get is an adapter for s939, and I'm golden.
So the price has gone up a bit, but in the long run I think I'll save money, as I don't have to get a bigger raditor, a new pump or a better block.
yippee! Should have it all by next weekend, I'll post some temps and pics as soon as I have them.

🙂 Understood.

Alright, I have a WhiteWater on order, a dual and single heatercore, 2 panaflo fans, a D4 pump, tubing etc. etc. and an old Maze4 GPU block coming in a few days, for a total of $130. Not too shabby.....I'll post my adventures next week.
