Cool watch. I've always been intrigued by Stowa...I just recently sold most of my watch collection and snagged a Breitling Superocean Steelfish on rubber...so comfortable! Great to see someone else with good watch taste on ATOT :D

Nice choice. I have toyed with buying a Stowa Airman, but I already have one pilot's watch, my Sinn 656.

I am currently wearing my Omega Seamaster GMT, and my newest acquisition is a beastly Marathon SAR. If I get a big bonus this year, I am idly entertaining the idea of picking up a JLC Reverso Duo - we shall see . . .

You mean that big court case you just won isn't a big enough "bonus"?

If I got the entire fee, a JLC would be at most a modest extravagance, but that's far from the case. I'll be lucky to see 5-10% of the fee. We've won two huge cases this year, with judgments totaling over $3M, but we haven't actually been paid, so . . .

gotta say, your Sinn 656 is my favorite!

Wow, getting a watch fix on AT!! I usually have to go to some other forums for that. Currently, and have always been, a huge Omega fan. My line-up for the moment before I sell and buy new is Seamaster GMT, Speedmaster moonphase, and a seamaster Aqua Terra.

I love automatic watches!!!

That's a good looking watch. I don't think I could bring myself that kind of cash, but that's just because I'm not that into watches. But I can appreciate a nice one like that.

I have an Invicta automatic, the $90 special from Amazon on and off. It used to run about 5 mins fast a week, but after wearing it for about 8 months its now settled and doesn't gain anything that I can notice. Was a good value, but not nearly as nice as this one :)

Nice watch! I just recently got a Tag Carerra GMT and its a pretty classy looking dress watch. I might have to look into Stowa for another automatic. The Tag has a black leather band so now I need a brown.

Nice! A bit too rich for my blood right now, but still. Which color did you get?

Peace

Black alligator with the silver dial. This one.

I really want to get an Oris Carlos Coste next.. but I'll have to see.

tags are nice, but they are overpriced. i remember Tags costing one price, and over a year's time the price doubles for the same model just because they opened a store on madison ave.

For my money Omegas offer more prestige and generally more appealing designs at a similar price point (though Omega seems to be trying to move upmarket, with all in-house movements).

Coincidentally, this is also the correct answer to the question, "Why does Rip the Jacker refer to himself in the third person?"

It can be - I have 14 now, but only one decent 10-watch storage case. I have actually lost track of at least one decent watch (a Zeno Explorer) for lack of storage space. I got a second 10-watch case on eBay but it's so shitty that only the watches I never wear (currently including an Orsa milsub homage, an old Timex Indiglo, and my lone digital, a Casio G-Shock Atomic) are relegated to it. I should really get a safe now that I have probably $4K in watches . . .

exactly the same way a ferrari is better than a kia, even if we're both sitting in the same traffic jam.

hey, that's actually a good way to put it.

i have 3 right now, the stowa, poljot and swatch

What do you guys think of Tag Hauer watches ?

We were walking around in Alaska a few weeks ago and I saw the nicest looking watch I've ever laid eyes on. Then I saw the $2k price tag. Ouch. I'll keep my 8-yr old $55 Fossil for a while longer.

Not a fan. You'll find that many people would agree.

i think of them poorly. most of them are bulky and either look like a) department store watch (bulova, etc) or b) wannabe rolex
they make a ton of quartz watches that they charge a lot for

(though carerra and calibre models are okay)

 Very nice looking watch. It's not big and bulky, the face is very clean and nice looking. I'm a fan of leather bands. That watch would probably look good on my girly wrists.

There are some historically-significant, handsome Heuers (I particularly like the Monaco watches), but for the most part they draw a lukewarm reaction from me, and many other watch enthusiasts feel the same, so their resale isn't great.
