I certainly don't claim to be a metallurgist, but just about every washer I've ever seen and used has a stainless steel drum, and you can certainly use bleach with them.

Read the wiki on SCC. Interesting. I'm thinking corrosion of the drum isn't the reason for banning bleach from this machine, though.

Yeah but other things dont make a whole lot of sense. Then again, without knowing the whole reason, who is to say....

In my current job i am doing machine design for a company that makes parts for fillers and cappers. We just got done doing a job that filled bleach bottles. All the product contact parts were made of delrin, neat stuff really. We replaced the parts with titanium parts.

It's Bosch.. I doubt it was made in China.

Then again, it wouldn't really surprise me, either..........

Even if it was it does not necessarily mean it's junk or bad. This whole (MADE IN CHINA) thing gets under the ole timers' skin like you would not believe! When I blow something up the first thing uttered - where was it made? If I say China the reply is oh - figures. If I say USA, Germany, Denmark, etc. then it's a bunch of questions starting with "WTF'd you do?".

I don't care either way but I don't want food from China.
I may worry if they make cranes in China though. ;)
Drywall made in China? Better watch out!
Washer made in China? Hey think of the money you will save on mothballs!

Odd problem you've got there, Eli. We've got a set of front loaders by Frigidaire and the washer isn't excluded from using chlorine bleach, although the manual does recommend using no more than 1/3 cup per wash. The tub is stainless steel, just like yours.

The problem may lie deeper within the washer, like some of the plastic or rubber components used in the fill and drain lines.
