Can you elaborate on what you mean by "the formula"?
Spielberg's films for some reason all have a sameness to me - even extremely divergent subject matter like Minority Report and Saving Private Ryan feel similar.
I dunno, they seemed like different movies back in the days of Jaws and Close Encounters, but now they all feel like they're wearing the same kind of gloss sheen on 'em - it's hard to quantify. I haven't checked, is he using the same production team for all his movies these days like Bay does with Bruckheimer? That might be it.
It's weird - they all seemed paced the same, shot similarly, cut the same - some say it's a directorial style, but other big names don't have this kind of trouble - Soderbergh and Rodriguez spring directly to mind.
It's not neccesarily a bad thing...it's just....samey.
