New walkie-Talkie wrist watch

Linkage
Thanks to CDTrips for finding the better price.

I actually give my son a radio when he goes out around us so I can keep incontact with him. I am seriously thinking of getting this because it will go on his wrist so less likly he is going to loose it and it tells time so he will know when to come home without us having to tell him.

These wristwatch walkie-talkies have been around for a long while now. Not a bad price for a good looking one though.

AWESOME!!! I'm gonna get one for me and one for this girl I have this BIG crush on. Thanks OP!!!

HMM lets ponder on this a moment.

Buy a cell phone for $50+
Add it to my account and jack my bill up who knows how much I believe its $20 a month for the hone added plus more taxes.
My 11 year old now has a cell phone he can give the number to his friends to call and jack my bill up even more
Then there is the my son is 11 years old and what the heck does he need a cell phone for anyway he is 11.
If he lost the phone there would be all hell to pay and why give a 11 year old that resposnability.

OR

Pay $12 for a radio
Costs nothing per month
Has a 2 mile radius If my son goes further then 2 miles hes in trouble, again he is 11 years old and where we live there are know sex offenders were just so super duper proud moved in nearby.
And if I need my son he is one button to push to get ahold of him not 7 and wait for it to ring and him to pick up.
I live near the highway and at time pick up others on the road with a raido and on the channel my son and I are on allowing me to mess with them and piss them off which gives me great joy 🙂

So there you go. this is not what cell phones are used for but rather what the radios were bought for 😉

Thanks for the great find on the price CDTrips! I am sure to change my link right away

i hope you're not as old as your avatar appears.. 😛

EDIT it looks like it's 12.50 per watch, not for a pair... wishful thinking, i guess

Is the one at big 5 sporting exactly the same as geeks?.
Is that a special sale price if so how much longer will it be on sale?
Is 1.2 miles under what circumstances?.
For anyone that owns them how much range do you actually get?

I too would be interested in seeing what the real world numbers are for the range on these. Like how far in a city from house to house indoor? Anything under a mile under these surcumstances would be unusefull.

Not to totally thread hijack but what the heck happened to cell phone watches ? They were coming out a few years ago, now they are nowhere to be found. Seems like a cell phone watch with one of those "friend and family plans" where you can talk to each other free would be the ideal.

I agree with the OP, my son is 9... too young for a cellphone, this would be perfect when is is out playing in the park across the street and out of sight.

I cannot give true range because I live in a metal trailer and right next to high voltage power wires. BUT the rating they give is based on a straight line with no obstructions. So if there are trees or buildings dont count on 1 mile.
