I don't see it. In your mind, every car is VW/Audi ripoff. I remember you were saying same thing about Altima, 350Z.
I think you are extrapolating too much from a few similarities. I am not saying there aren't some common design elements, but from where I am sitting, it's clearly a mini S60 as opposed to a A-4 copy. S60 has similar front end and similar back end.

It's more than that, look at the side. It is very similar to an Audi A4 or VW Passat.

Look at the passenger door of the Passat, S80 and S40. The lines on the S40 are exactly the same as the Passat.

You have got to be kidding me. If the S40 looks like a Passat from the side, then you can say that about every single passenger sedan ever created. They look nothing alike! The tiered decklid, the swoopy beltline, the nose that sticks out from the headlights - the S40 looks most like *gasp* a smaller S60/80. The beauty of nameplate recognition.

AWESOME! Looks a lot lot better than the old S40. I have an S80 T6 myself, 2000, and I am VERY glad to see that volvo is sticking to its tried and true "maintain the same basic form factor for as long as possible" strategy. That will hopefully maintain the resale value of my car (and its basic "cool" factor too).

What on earth are you talking about? Volvo has been doing the grille flush with the bumper thing (which I think is stupid) for a few years now, and it's instantly recognisable as Volvo.

Well, although it does look something like an A4, I'd say that's going a little far. Take off all the badging and line up an A4, this S40, and an S60, and I guarantee that people would be able to pick out the two Volvos. The muscular fenders and the shape of the taillights would be a dead giveaway.
