Ok, sorry if this is a repost, I did a search and didn't find anything new like this.

I got the e-mail from my dad at work, wanted to spread it around a little.

Subject: Fw: Worst Virus Ever ... CNN announced

> PAY ATTENTION TO THIS!!!!!

> Worst Virus ever.....CNN announced.

> PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE ON YOUR CONTACT LIST

> A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft
> as the most destructive ever! This virus was discovered yesterday
> afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed.

> This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital
> information for its functioning are stored.

> This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to
> all contacts on your list with the title "A Card for You. "

> As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so
> that the user has to reboot. When the keys or the reset button are
> pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the
> hard disk.

> Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York,
> according to news broadcast by CNN. This alert was received by an employee
> of Microsoft itself.

> So don't open any mails with subject: " A Virtual Card for You. " As soon
> as you get the mail, delete it. Even if you know the sender.

> Please pass this mail to all of your friends.
>
> Forward this to everyone in your address book. I'm sure most people, like
> myself, would rather receive this 25 times than not at all.
> Also: Intel announced that a new and very destructive virus was discovered
> recently. If you receive an email called "An Internet Flower For You," do
> not open it. Delete it right away! This virus removes all dynamic link
> libraries (.DLL files) from your computer. Your computer will not be able
> to boot up !!

Sounds pretty bad to me, sorry again if a repost, just wanted to make sure a few more ppl got this.

i prefer to listen to trusted news sources instead of the usual idiots and their forwarded emails.

If this even existed and was extremely dangerous, you would be hearing about it all over the place. Cnn and intel .com have no information about this "virus"

If you still believe its true, look at the above quote...Looks like the "idiot" didn't put a date

how can it "permenantly" destroy a harddrive by erasing sector 0? Can't you just reinstall windows (or Linux, if that's your thing)?

No. I have (or at least used to have) a hard drive with a bad sector 0. There is nothing you can do since when you boot your computer up, the BIOS looks for sector 0 first and if that's gone, you're screwed. The most that can be done is a reformat, make it a non-boot-up disk and put stuff on it, but it will need another refomat if you turn off your machine. Like massive slow as molasses RAM (aka worthless).

YOyoYOhowsDAjello,

You must be one of the morons who keep forwarding this garbage to me. It's a HOAX! An old hoax, at that.

Hehe, have you ever seen one of these:

Please forward this message to EVERYONE on your ICQ Contact List, ICQ is going to start charging people to use it's service!

I've been receiving that SPAM CRAP for years and to this date AOL/ICQ hasn't charged me.

Wow, CNN confirmed this. It must be true!

Oh no! What makes people fall for these baseless hoaxes is genetic!

Any virus warning that states "SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW!! RIGHT NOW!!....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?!?!?!" is a virus warning that I don't take very seriously 🙂

When these things say something like that, it's usually a dead giveaway for a hoax, which this is.

It's like that surveyer asking you to show him your breasts. It's a scam, he doesn't want to give you a survey!

actually, i'm not sure you can "delete a sector"... a sector is a physical piece of the drive. pretty hard for software to delete a physical part of the drive I would think...

Worst Virus ever

Hahahaha... Anyone else think someone from ATOT started this chain letter? 😀
