Building a new system with an Asus A8N-sli premium, havn't decided completely on the cpu, but either a 3700 venice or the 3800 x2 when it comes out.

I need me a new video card to go with the set up, but Don't really wanna break the bank yet. want something that will last me some time until i'm ready to shell out for the better cards.

run, wow, HL2... um.. eventually BF2...

so.. what do you think?

That's the card I'd suggest as well. I have the same price-point and plan on getting one of them soon.

If you plan on keeping this system for a couple years, go for a 6800 vanilla or 6800gt (if its an agp board, you can unlock pipes on the 6800, otherwise not) considering they perform around x800xl speed (and do great in the games you mentioned anyways) plus the have Shader model 3.0

which you'll want for next gen, trust me.

If you can find a PCI-e 6800GT for $250 then I suggest you get that by all means, but if not the X800XL is the way to go.

Wouldn't go for a 6800 vanilla. Either 6800 gt or x800xl is the way to go in this price range.
