Bought my son an R9 270 for xmas and installed it in his system.
His system is unknown mobo with an AMD 5800k and 8GB of ram.
The powersupply is a 300W Enermax.

His previous video card was a 650ti.

I uninstalled his old video card thru windows 10 (deleted drivers), installed new card, downloaded amd drivers and we were looking good.

Games launch - BlackOps 3 was first up. As soon as you get past a menu into gameplay, the machine shuts down.

CSGO loaded and would play with low settings and vsync on .. he tried against bots for about 5 minutes. He turned vsync OFF and the machine shut down.

This smells like the powersupply is letting us down - does that sound right?

AMD video cards take a lot more power than Nvidia cards.

Get a good quality power supply of at least 400 watts and you should be good.
