New Vertex 2 firmware to decrease over-provisioning and increase usable space

I was reading a Vertex 2 review here and noticed some juicy info about a potential firmware release. It would allow my 50GB Vertex 2 to possibly have 60GB of usable space. Any more info on this?

Mwave is already selling 60GB Vertex 2s, they were in hot deals earlier for $160. It will just be a matter of time before that firmware is out for people who bought the "smaller" one.

Newegg has 60GB Agility 2's listed on their site, but out of stock until 6/11. They're priced at $180.
 
One question that I'll just throw out here. I don't know if anyone knows, but would I lose data with this firmware upgrade? Would I have to reformat?
