I'd been using Windows Live Search all along since it was natively compatible with my windows mobile device, but this new version works just as smooth and just as well--and with my location (just tried it out, it tracks me to within 15 ft of where I actually am) now included along with other nifty features, Google Maps definitely takes the cake this round..

Damn...I downloaded this earlier today and still can't get it to pinpoint my location. It just says it's currently unavailable...damn, this would make up for the lack of GPS in the Titan!

It's been out for months with Google Maps for Blackberry.

EDIT: Just saw that it doesn't use GPS. The BB one does.

Works well for me, I wish WLS would come out with a similar feature, I love that WLS is voice-activated now. Plus I like the way it zooms in/out way, way better than GMM.

Yeah the smooth zooms are better, but now GMM has smooth scrolling like WLS does, no longer is it done frame by frame.

I just tried it on my BlackBerry and while it had my about a half mile from where I currently am, I can see it being far more accurate in bigger cities. This is pretty neat. Now I don't have to take my GPS unit with me everywhere.

I just like the way in WLS you can click once to zoom in and it shows the zoom level and a bounding box for the zoom on screen, then click again and again to zoom in. I guess you can do similar in GMM with the 3 button, but it's just not as good, IMO.

And have you tried the new WLS versions with voice activated searching, gas prices and movie times? I miss those features in GMM.

what's the version number for Palm? I went to the site on my phone and it's listed as 1.2.0.9

edit: seems like Palm/Google is having issues because 1.2.0.9 is the version that came with my phone installed on the ROM, and trying to dl/install the latest version of GMM does not overwrite it. :/

Not sure, for my phone it was 2.0.0.0.

I prefer WLS but Google Maps is improving. Does anyone know what sort of things you can feed WLS either textually or vocally? How smart is it? Can I say Beowulf 90028?
