New VCR puts dents in tape. Is it defective?

As some of you know I recently bought a new VCR. I got a Samsung VR9160 and overall I'm very happy with it. I just have one concern. I have noticed that it sometimes puts a small (like 1mm) dent in the top of the tape. It's usually at the very beginning. It has done it to almost every tape I have tried. It doesn't seem to affect performance but I'm still concerned. Should I be concerned? Is it defective? Or should I just stop worrying?

Where did you buy the POS VCR from?
How long ago?
Still have your receipt?

Return it and buy a PVR (TiVo or ReplayTV) or a Panasonic or JVC VCR.

I bought it from Amazon (and I don't consider it a POS).
It just came Thursday.
Yes.

I don't want a PVR unless they can play/record VHS tapes. I don't like JVC at all. I bought this VCR after trying a Panasonic which turned out to be horrible. Old Panasonics were nice (that is what my old one is) but the new ones totally suck.

BTW, you have been changing pictures a lot lately. 🙂

I know, it's a condition and yes I'm seeking help.

I'd return it to Amazon.com
