UPDATE: New deal, new dates, now with new bigger rebate.

Searched and didn't find so here goes.
In todays SJMN good until 9-6-05. 109.99 in store price with a 40.00 and a 30.00 mail-in rebate for a total of 70.00 in rebates.

At the rate HD's are are dropping in price, I'm holding out as long as I can for a 300-400GB'er. (6 months ago, I was telling myself "...hold out as long as you can for a 160GB'er...")
Anyone needing a decent size drive today is crazy to pass this up.

This is the about same deal they had early July at the Fry's stores. I got one and submitted the rebate. The rebate bounced with an "outside of date offering purchase" which was pure BS.

I had to resubmit the doc again. One could think that it is an automatic (Fry's/Seagate) reject to cut rebate payments.

The same happened to me with an Fry's/PNY $25 rebate, but had no doc copies.

If it happens again to me I am considering writting to the Florida's and Texas General Attourneys Office.

That is not necessarily true. I think it depends on the honesty of the parties involved.

I submitted another Seagate drive $40 rebate from Best Buy purchase and got the rebate in a couple of weeks.

The same for a Symantec / Compusa rebate.

In my experience if Fry's is involved there is potential trouble.

PATA or parallel ATA transfers @ 133max SATA or Serial ATA transfers @ 150....If you have two of the same Rpm and cache size drives but one is PATA and one is SATA, then the SATA will be faster but the difference is so slight you can't really see it in everyday use.

Good things about SATA is they really fly if you put them in Raid 0 and they have much smaller cables but need a special power supply adapter for certain brands.....SATAII is now out and if your motherboard has the NF4 Ultra or SLI chipset then you can run SATAII drives @ 300GB a sec twice as fast as the old SATA drives You can really see the difference in the speed of the SATAII drives and PATA

Ok I just bought one of the Dell computer deals and it will be here in a few days.
It is sata.
So I cannot use the hard drive in my 4 year old system because cables are different?
I want to buy a bigger HD anyway cause they wanted too much for upgrades.

can you explain what the nforce boards are? are they new? for sli vid cards? and what is raid 0?

nforce motherboards made by nvidia.
raid 0 combines multiple drives into one large "virtual" drive that has no fault tolerance. i wouldn't recommend it unless you're the gambling type.
