New Ultra Carbon Fiber case out!

QueBert

Lifer
linky

SWEET CASE! 1,199.99 bucks - not sure if this is before or after $100 rebate lol.

what a price though, doesn't mention the weight for it, which is surprising because this should be super light. Dunno how many they expect to sell @ 1200 bones. I like the case but my whole PC with monitor wasn't even close to the price of this case alone

I digress...

I bought a carbon fiber oil filter wrench for my car, a while back...

Isn't worth a damn - flexes like any other plastic wrench!

I've going back to aluminum next time... 😉

I wonder how much the "Travel Case" adds to the cost of the computer case. 😕

Another interesting feature....
Patented Power Distribution System
This strip runs vertically along the side of the motherboard. It connects to the power supply at the top and gives several different connections along its side. Using short cables (Included) it is a quick snap from the unit to the video cards, hard drives, and other devices. Thus, cleaning up the interior of the case and allowing an increase in airflow.

A couple of Ultra's newer high end cases are coming with their "power strip". I think it's a definite bonus, I wouldn't buy one just for that but, it might work out well.

I went to the Ultra site and they show the aluminum version, the eXo, and the m923, a Stacker type case, but no carbon fiber version. You can link from the home page, but not from the Products > Cases page...
. No weights listed there either.

I like the idea of the strip, maybe I'm thinking too simple but this shouldn't be a case specific - don't see why somebody doesn't come out with a standalone thing like this. Seems like it could help with hiding wires for sloppy asses like me who can't seem to do much on our own.

look up barrier strips on google.
Been around for decades.

Makes me wonder if this case was made simply for the fact that it could be made. Carbon fiber now, 24-carat gold later. What about function? I figure if you're going to spend that much money on a computer case, you're probably a gaming enthusiast or computer enthusiast in general who's putting together a pretty beefy system. Therefore, you've taken the time to consider airflow, component space, expansion, etc. Please tell me you're not just buying the case to say "I've got me a carbon fiber case", and then challenge me to a game of Hearts.

lol Enthusiasts and gamers don't buy these cases, they buy antecs and LL's etc.

only morons buy these cases ($1000+ cases)

Have to wait and see what the all aluminum version is going to run - hoping the price is more rational, but I doubt I'd buy an Ultra product anyway - they are on my permanent "used food" list as are all the Tiger Direct/Systemax/Infotel sub units.

It's not, you could walk away with this baby for a mere 1,099.99 after instant rebate.

Hurry now, only 1 in stock. 😀

I wouldn't give my left or even right nut for that case.

Ugly as shit to boot. All those damn holes, wtf were they thinking.

"Ehh people love carbon fiber cars, why not cases. Lets make it ugly, its carbon fiber people will love it no matter what."

I could see it with a notebook. That'd be pretty awesome - the indestructible notebook! $5 and you get to swipe it with a sledgehammer! Come see the indestructible notebook!!!

depending on how carbon fiber is laid and to what thickness it is far from indestructable, atleast no more indestructable than steel. It's major advantage is that it's extremely lightweight compared to anything else with the same strength characteristics.

Yes that may be, but this case costs more than most peoples computers.

Strength is not a big concern of mine, I usually don't sit on my computer.

They'll match the 24K gold cell phones that are already on the market. Do people not realize that tru 24K gold can be scratched with a fingernail and a pretty good ammount of force?

Oh yeah Rich people are stupid. A thin piece of gold it fairly easy to bite through. What I find funny is the gold grills people get for teeth. I always thought. "wow you got a few hundred dollars worth of gold in your mouth whoopee" With the price of gold at a record high ($900+ a troy oz) The value of that case is probably way more now. The only thing I could see a case or phone like that worth is a investment.
