I have been paintballing for about two years now and I just recently went to buy new equipment. I was looking through sites my friend recommended to me and I thought, wow they have a great idea. Basically users can rate each piece of paintball gear, leave comments, and then the ratings can be compiled in a big list..

example

Why not do this for computer stuff? I think this could help out people a lot.

Those reviews are horrible. A reviewer would go into far more depth, test it under controlled conditions, be knowledgeable of the competition, etc...

I've read these reviews in all kinds of categories. Some are quite intelligent, most are not. You cannot rely on anonymous people with no given credentials. Would you ship first to a person with no heatware? If you want good Paintball reviews, direct yourself to Warpig, Ravi Choprah's site, PaintballResource, and Warpig Tech Talk. If you want good hardware reviews, look to Anandtech, Accelenation, Amdmb, etc. This is like calling the most popular music the best. Is BSB/N'Sync better than Radiohead, GYBE!, Clapton, and the like because it is more popular?

im not saying i used them to buy my stuff. But they seem like they could be helpful... becuase it's not just leaving a number, but leaving feedback about why... I dunno... so i'm wrong... shoot me :)
