New Trump NYT interview. He's the bestest as usual.

So he knows more about taxation than the best CPAs. Believes Mueller will be fair to him contrary to every statement he's made. Reinforced 16 times there was no collusion and the Russia inquiry makes the U.S. look bad. The whole thing is just...... yeah.

“I have absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department,” he said, echoing claims by his supporters that as president he has the power to open or end an investigation. “But for purposes of hopefully thinking I’m going to be treated fairly, I’ve stayed uninvolved with this particular matter.”

Mr. Trump disputed reports that suggested he does not have a detailed understanding of legislation, saying, “I know the details of taxes better than anybody. Better than the greatest C.P.A. I know the details of health care better than most, better than most.”

"No one knew health care would be this complicated"

I also hear he got 9 holes in one on his first time on the golf course and as a result gave up the sport because he had perfected it. That's why we've never seen him golfing during his Presidency.

Also, we've always been at war with Eurasia and allied with Oceana.

Damn, that is hard to read. Nothing but rambling word salads. Also have to love stuff like, collusion is bad, collusion isn't illegal, btw we didn't collude. Reminds me of a kid who is guilty and is providing cover for later.

I do kind of wish that the interviewer had asked him a few basic questions about the tax bill after he declared himself the planet's greatest CPA. I am very confident he could not have answered them.

While I agree with your idea/intent, do you think even if he knew the answer, he could/would articulate it properly?

I want to see our resident Trump cheerleaders try to defend this. Do you really think Trump knows taxes better than the best CPA? Do you really believe someone who lies that collusion isn't illegal (it is) when he also says he didn't collude? Do you believe that someone who's babbling and incoherent is fit to be President?

I'm sure Slow and crew will find a way to excuse this and reinforce their views that Trump is a flawless leader who must never be questioned, but interviews like this make their apologist attitudes that much harder to defend.

The idea that Trump has the "absolute right to do what I want to do with the Justice Department" is far scarier than any of the rest this bluster.

SCHMIDT: Can you finish your thought on North Korea. What’s going on with China?

TRUMP: I’m disappointed. You know that they found oil going into. …

SCHMIDT: But how recently?

TRUMP: It was very recently. In fact, I hate to say, it was reported this morning, and it was reported on Fox. Oil is going into North Korea. That wasn’t my deal!

Presidenting by information from Faux News. not the military, not the State Department, but actual fake news and causing global strife, so much winning.

I feel sorry for anyone who has to interview this idiot. I could not sit there and listen to this man speak his word salad. Most inept human ever!!!

I watched Alan Dershowitz the other day, he said, No. 1, there is no collusion, No. 2, collusion is not a crime, but even if it was a crime, there was no collusion. And he said that very strongly. He said there was no collusion. And he has studied this thing very closely. I’ve seen him a number of times. There is no collusion, and even if there was, it’s not a crime. But there’s no collusion. I don’t even say [inaudible]. I don’t even go that far.

So you're saying there was collusion, or...?

I don't see how anyone reads through this interview and doesn't come away with the thought that there's something wrong with him mentally.

It doesn't matter that it's specifically Fox News, it matters that he's the President of the United States of America and has the greatest intelligence in the world at his disposal yet chooses to get his intelligence from television.

I have a great fix for American Democracy. Abolish the position if there is less then a 75% turn out at the polls. A $50.00 fine for nonvoting would help too. By polls I do mean write ins are included. But if mailed must have a properly dated post mark to qualify. Think of all the infrastructure that would fund.

Donald Trump will be treated fairly by Mueller. The thing is exposing crimes and corruption you've committed isn't unfair, it's called justice. Unfortunately his narcissistic, ignorant personality won't let him see that.

If you read the interview it’s very clear that ‘fair’ to him means ‘shield me from indictment’. He even talks about what a good job Holder did in protecting Obama from legal problems.

This is batshit insane for several reasons. First, Obama was remarkably corruption and scandal free. Second, the job of the attorney general is so so so not to shield the president. This is one of the most naked statements as to why Trump shouldn’t be president.

Whatever Donald Trump's twisted views on fairness and law are, we can't let those ridiculous views influence us from upholding real fairness, justice, and the law. The privilege Donald Trump enjoys won't prevent the hammer of justice and constitutional democracy from falling on his baked on combover.
