Got a 2016 WRX base 6MT. Was looking at BRZs and realized the WRX was more fun as a daily driver / track day car at the same price.

So hard to stay off the throttle during break in.

Nice choice and of course a great color choice.

That is the same price as a BRZ ? You picked the right car. And yeah go easy on it for a bit. Which should be pretty hard to do.

Often wondered why they don't just program in a moderate limp mode for the break-in period so your forced to keep it civil ?

If I could give a gold on this forum Ferzerp would have it all!

Nice car! Is t comfortable?

As far as limp mode after purchase break in periods go - do you know how many Camaro and Corvettes would be returned within the first day! haha. "Dafuq, this things slow as piss! MOney back nanana"

Break in? in 2005 when I bought my Mustang, the break in was me driving the piss out of it...to this day, I have only had to change 1 light bulb.

They actually limit throttle nowadays?

I can still buy an aftermarket ironing board. 😉

It is. The stock seats are quite well bolstered. And the ride is on par with my e46 with konis. Doesn't feel quite as planted at the limit, but I suspect some suspension mods and stickier tires should do the trick.

Put about 250 miles on it. Initial impressions - the surge of torque between 2-4k rpm is very addictive. But the flat spot from 4-5k is very irritating. From what I've read on NASIOC, it's the way stock WRXs are. A basic tune from Cobb smoothens out the torque curve. So that's definitely on my to-do list.

nice car! I'm having an intense internal debate right now between the WRX, Focus ST, or the GTI. All around the same price. I know the WRX is a better performer and will most likely be the most fun car out of the bunch, but I really want a hatch. Dammit Subaru...why can't you release this car in a hatch also?! I've been waiting to buy a hatch WRX for a while now.

no.

I've read that the need for break-in has decreased in the years because of manufacturing changes, so I'd just stick to what the manufacturer suggests.

Anecdotally it might not make a difference anyway.

Very nice! I wish they got better gas mileage, though. Do you still have the e46?

I have had my 2015 WRX for 19,000 miles. Overall average MPG is 29.5. I can go on a 30 mile jaunt and only average 18 MPG. :whiste:

That's really not bad, considering you get a good compromise of everything in a single car. I'll keep this one on my radar! 🙂

Only put about 500 miles on it. But I've noticed at freeway speeds with cruise control on, it has no trouble averaging above 30 mpg. Obviously when you get on it a bit, mileage drops like a rock. That torque is soooo addictive.

When you say freeway speeds, do you mean the posted speed limit, or do you mean the speed people actually drive? For example, my little 2 gets crap mileage at 80 mph (keeping up with traffic), but 40+ mpg at 50-60.

Here's a picture of my base 2015 CWP WRX - 6MT I have had for about 2 months now.

I'm about 2000 miles into it, and really enjoying the car. Like Aharami above, I was cross shopping the Focus ST and GTI. In fact, I was dead-set on both of those cars for a few months each, but didn't pull the trigger. Anyways, I have wanted a WRX for about 20 years, but was looking at the other two because they supposedly had a "better" interior. I drove all 3 and realized that the WRX interior has everything I want/need and I *greatly* preferred the way the car drove and, especially, the looks of the new WRX.

As far as interior goes, I didn't necessarily want navigation, but I did want a screen. And with the 2015 model they have that awesome screen which is right up where your eyes are near the road...and that little screen has all kinds of info on it (boost gauge, music info, gas mileage) so I really like it. The interior also has hints of carbon fiber that some may think are a little cheesy but I really think they "tie the room together" so to speak.

I could keep blabbing on about it but I'll try and keep this semi-concise. I have been on this forum complaining about my old 09 honda fit for years (an absolutely excellent car, by the way, my only real complaint was its slowness) and talking about how I was gonna get an ST or GTI, but now I have no more complaints. I love this car.

I guess time will tell. We've had an AP tune on our '05 for almost a decade. Engine hasn't exploded yet!

Not sure how robust the FA is as I haven't been reading up on it. Brother in law says they're not as tough as the EJs.
