New toy

Nice... But still a Dodge...D: Sorry but it goes hotdogs, apple pie and Chevrolet... Should have picked something like hot wings and beer...

My dad had a '65 'Vette Stingray that we lost in a barn fire. He hasn't had a nice car, or even a car since then which was around 15 years ago. I grew up in Corvettes and Camaro's.

Thats a shame those were worth their weight in gold almost... Anyhow just picking at ya and best of luck with a real head turner...

It is really a joy to drive, most of the fun is taking other people for spins. Seeing my dad finally having a nice car to drive is great too, I always wanted to help since the vette burned.

Many thanks all. My dad really wanted a copperhead viper, but they are pretty rare to come across. We went to look at a local Viper that was repainted with what felt like the main ingredient was sand, we were ready to buy until we felt the paint. A day or two later this one was posted online and we got it. It is one of my favorite colors for them.

vipers are overpriced (new), archaically designed, and outright dangerous.

...they're also pretty fucking awesome and fast as hell if you can drive it right. and i've heard it's a buyer's market on used ones.

nice purchase.

I'd say getting a new 600hp car for <100k isn't crazy if someone actually has that kind of money to throw around. I don't really know what other car you can get with that kind of power besides a ZR1 for that price.

The design is old school and that's why we love it. It is built like a tank and relatively easy to work on/fix if you know what to do. The car couldn't be more simple. And yes extremely dangerous but it is very easy to drive and just cruise around. It still has the stock run flats on it, they need to go.

The market is indeed very buyer friendly, we got a really great deal on it. Less than 10k miles.

wasn't intending to knock your purchase. just to point out that despite said old school design philosophy and general lack of restrictions and driving aids (which can lead to spirited driving going bad very quickly), it's still an awesome car that any enthusiast would love to drive.

no, the price isn't that crazy when you consider that there are plenty of far slower sport sedans and coupes in the 50-100k price range. but those cars often still have a lot of power in addition to being far more sophisticated. the viper is almost like a kit car- the drivetrain is the big expense, everything around it is relatively simple.

500 HP prior to 2008. Many cars that can attain that easily... buuuuut none of them are Vipers so it doesn't matter 😀
