Yea the art team definitely did a fantastic job. I can only hope the AI team is equally dedicated and productive.

So the real question... will the AI be improved?

I mean in Medieval II even on max difficulty I could win against almost any odds because the AI was so stupid and predictable.

Uh....

Did you read the thread, or check out any of the links?

I did I also seem to remember a handful of previous discussions on Rome Total War 2 and seemingly legitmate links to articles.

I wonder if both games are currently in development and if so which is due first?

Pretty much. I actually abandoned my Britannia (expansion) campaign after I (as Ireland) basically killed everyone but Scotland (Norway stuck to its islands, Wales and Britain had about 2 territories left a piece). Just got boring, and with another several hours of gameplay I would have easily won. This was on Very Hard/Very Hard.

Nice video, wish it was longer; looks good. I hope they make the AI better.

they're using the same warscape engine which means their engineers should be more focused on crafting a good AI as opposed to making a new engine with sparkly graphics. Considering this is really their first game with the same engine as their last since Shogun 1 and Medieval 1, the results should be good.

Shogun 1 + Medieval 1 = first engine
Rome + Medieval 2 = Second Engine
Empire (Napoleon) + Shogun 2 = third Engine

Keep in mind Medieval 2 was made by the incompetents in Australia which explains the massive amounts of bugs and bull crap.

Medieval 2 was way better than the crap that was Empire.

Did we really play the same game? Medieval 2 was bland as hell, broken to bits.

When I play Empire now, it's an extremely compelling experience. Can't say the same at all about Medieval 2, and I'm prejudiced in favor of swords/arrows settings.

Empire was a joke, the only TW game I regret buying. 50 dollars, and I've only logged a few hours in it since I bought it. Something to do with the game crashing constantly. I'd comment on the gameplay, but I've never gotten far enough to actually experience it.

Medieval 2 was light years ahead of Empire.

I'm looking forward to Shogun 2, but after Empire, I have a foul taste in my mouth and won't be buying it on launch day.

Bateluer, I sincerely suggest you reinstall Empire + patch to its latest point. I played the game 1 year ago and dropped it. Started playing it beginning of this summer, and it truly has become what it was meant to be--as far as land combat is concerned imo.

Sure the AI isn't as brilliant as I want it to be, and naval combat bores me (maybe I don't have the right ships?) but the game is very fun.

I have had the same bad experiences with Medieval 2 you have had with Empire.

Please, talk me into liking Medieval 2 (I want to, I need you to persuade me).

I have, multiple time since I got it. Have the Steam version though, so uninstall means I delete the data and Steam redownloads.

OMG ME SO EXCITED! *SQUEAL* Back to the basics may be a hint of Shogun 2 Total War, or possibly an overall Oriental setting, like China: TW.

Rumor is that we find out June 15th!

They released Dynasty warriors 20 times with no improvements. I bought every version..

THUS, I shall also buy 'Total war - yellow edition

well, why do you like Medieval 2? It has (had??) the same issues as Empire. And it was all a bit bland, wasn't it?

Odd. I actually liked both Med 2 and Empire but I logged only ~60 hours into Med 2 and I have broken 100 in Empire. I look forward to the new Shogun but really I want a re-do of Rome with modern graphics... urban cohort FTW!! 😉

I'd truly love it if they released a new Rome Total War. I loved everything about the original and Medieval 2 was just kinda...not there for me. Pope was too annoying, AI was retarded. Only real challenge was when the Mongols invaded. I like Empire now that the AI has been fixed. Much better game, and personally I think the battles get more intense then Medieval despite the lack of melee combat and plus with better AI after this last patch, the game is actually somewhat challenging again at higher difficulties.

I've been playing as Sweden in a grand campaign and Prussia was an absolute bitch for the longest time, had some really strong armies and generals, truly a war of attrition for a good 5-6 years before I finally and very decisively broke their back in a classic pincer move on the map using my naval supremacy to blockage and invade them to create the pincer.

Only problem is now France and Spain are tag teaming me and Spain at the moment has a much much better navy. But I'm confident I'll eventually win because I've been swiping all of Spain territory in the New World.

Medieval 2 never had the same problems as Empire did for me. I got a few crashes on it in its early days, but nothing compared to the issues I had with Empire. The only game I own that's worse than ETW for stability is Fallout 3.

I like the older time periods better, personally. Pre-gunpower > Gunpowder. I would be drooling over a Rome 2.
