I don't know about you, but I hold a man to his word, and there's nothing wrong with that. In fact, it's admirable to do so. Just because you don't doesn't mean you should knock someone who does. I thought he was joking when he offered it, but I declined it anyway saying that I didn't appreciate the insult. When he agreed to buy it anyway, he insulted me, again by paying the $59.99.

Same viewpoint here...
If the seller doesn't agree with the price, then he/she will say, 'Nope'. If he/she does, great, you get it a reduced price...
It's not insulting, especially of the seller's price is way too high...

Anybody actually have a good reason for why "lowballing", or making an reduced offer is wrong or frowned upon?

You missed my point.
Anyone can buy one brand new delivered for $83.
To induce a person willing to buy a card new for $83, to accept a used one, you will have to offer a substantial discount, like 40 percent off.

i agree with the substantial discount part...
but $45?! i'm not claiming to be a trading guru, but i think i been camping the FS/FT forums long enough to safely say that 80% of the price of a new card is a fair value.

btw, i just want to reiterate that i wasn't even offering it for sale.

i always hate it when people expect to get 80%+ for used computer equipment. I love FS/FT forums sometimes you can get good items at good prices. But it always shocks me when someone is selling a item for almost the same price as a new. i have even seen people asking the same price with shipping as it is new without shipping!

anyway you never know if some guy will accept a lowball offer. i am never offended by it i just say NO try XX price. If it really offends you maybe you should stop selling stuff.

i believe that 80% of the price of a new part is fair. now i am not talking about 80% of compusa's inflated pricing... i'm talking about a place like newegg... some place fair. for example... over at FS/FT... look up k7s5a. prices at newegg for a new one of these boards were like $52.00 or something like that. they go in the $40 range in FS/FT.

and to answer ur original question, yes i think $70 is a fair price. if u go over to FS/FT... do a search for a 64mb radeon 8500 and u tell me what kinda pricing u see.

yes and you go on ebay you see them $5 below the cost of new shipped. personally i just spend the little extra to get a new product myself.
But either way i still dont think he low balled you. just part of bargining.

i don't really know why u mentioned ebay, becuz i already stated what is my position on how i determine fair value of a used computer part. well i guess some ppl call it bargaining... other ppl call it lowballing.

If you post a thread about having your feet amputated you will probably get 50 PM's offering $1 for all of your shoes.
